Ascend Graduate Programme: first rotation accomplished, three more to go!

23 Feb 2024

Since October 2023, the Ascend Graduate Programme has introduced 12 alumni to our organisation's five distinct segments. Their first rotation across various companies and departments ended in February 2024 with a comprehensive evaluation presentation at the Rogers Head Office. Transitioning to a new business unit for the second phase of the programme, the Ascenders enjoyed a week's break that included two days of Self-Leadership training conducted by Flavia Pal, our Head of People Operations. This period of rest and learning was further enhanced by a team-building event at Frederica Lodge, designed to rejuvenate their team spirit and prepare them for their upcoming experiences.

Ascend Graduate Programme: first rotation accomplished, three more to go!

At Rogers, we value the pursuit of career advancement, continuous learning, and personal development for our team members. This principle is a cornerstone of our organisational ethos, especially within our talent and culture framework. In 2023, with a vision to transform recent graduates into the next generation of skilled professionals ready for contemporary challenges, we launched the Ascend Graduate Programme. This initiative welcomed 12 candidates from diverse academic fields into various departments, including Communication & Marketing, Accounting & Finance, Human Resources, Legal & Compliance, Risk & Audit, and Sustainability & Inclusive Development.

Assessing growth and preparing for new challenges

After successfully navigating their first three months within the group, each participant presented their evaluation on February 13th. This session provided an opportunity for them to share feedback and summarise experiences from their first rotation. As a result, our panel and mentors could assess their progress, evaluate their skills, identify areas for improvement, and guarantee personalised support and coaching for their next rotation.

Beyond an internship, a springboard for future leaders

The Ascend Graduate Programme provides emerging talents with the opportunity to showcase their abilities and forge a transformative path within the Group. To support their growth, targeted trainings are scheduled for the Ascenders to further refine strategic personal skills.
Consistent with this, Flavia Pal, led a pivotal two-day Self-Leadership workshop at United Docks on February 14th and 15th with the 12 participants. It served as an introspection before the next rotation begins, equipping Ascenders with the attitudes, skills, and necessary tools for heightened self-awareness and leadership. This training, building on their initial "Up your Energy" session from last October, prepares them for future management roles and personal mastery, ensuring they excel in both their professional and personal lives.

Embarking on the second rotation

This journey of transformation, growth, and exploration continues for our Ascenders with their second rotation till June 2024.
