Project overview:
In 2021, Rogers Hospitality launched the "Now for Tomorrow" sustainability programme to lead the way in sustainable tourism in Mauritius. Rogers Hospitality has set objectives to deliver premium hospitality services that uplift the guest experience, benefit the environment and add value to our local communities. Now for Tomorrow consists of creating a positive impact in essential areas under five pillars: energy transition, protection of biodiversity, circular economy, vibrant communities and inclusive development.
The programme paves the way for a new benchmark for sustainable tourism through a series of initiatives. These include:
- Proposing carbon neutrality stays at Heritage Resorts in Bel Ombre and offsetting options for guests staying at Veranda Resorts,
- Sourcing 100% of food and products locally or from regional partners in the Indian Ocean,
- Intensifying energy-efficient initiatives in Bel Ombre to achieve 80% renewable energy by 2025,
- Setting up of a waste management division for its operations in Bel Ombre to improve the management and traceability of waste,
- Developing conservation programmes focusing on lagoon & reefs, forests, rivers, and wetlands,
- Integrating Green Key Certification practices throughout all the hotels under Rogers Hospitality,
- Adopting a “zero single-use plastic” approach across all operations.
Our strategy:
The "Now for Tomorrow" programme is built on the five pillars outlined by Business Mauritius' SigneNatir pact, to which the Rogers Group is a signatory. By focusing on these areas, the Group is contributing to sustainable development and creating meaningful change.
